ellen ryan,
mindfulness & coaching
Ellen is a highly proficient coach who I employed as a consultant when I was Director of Strategic Partnerships at employment charity Tomorrow’s People. She has an in depth understanding of corporate culture and the strategies, training and development programmes that can be put in place to improve behaviours and effectiveness in the workplace.
Abi Levitt, Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Norwood
Ellen has real insight into what makes people tick and is able to shine a light on the things that matter with great empathy, not related to social or organisational status. She really empowers people to be their best selves.

Teaching all day and managing class room stress meant that I rarely did any exercise and I was getting more and more morose! I found Ellen through a friend and she has given me so much direction and sense of purpose. I discovered the joy of teaching again! I have learnt to say no with confidence and to manage my state better. I have time for me. Thanks Ellen.

Ellen has provided invaluable career development support to a number of teams within the business who have been faced with the uncertainty redundancy brings. Ellen has adopted a sympathetic but realistic approach and has adapted her coaching style to meet the different needs and skill levels of each team member. She has worked with both teams and individuals to help equip them with the tools and confidence they need to take the next step in their careers. It has been a pleasure to work with Ellen and we would look to engage her support should a similar situation occur in the future.

Since starting the mindfulness sessions with Ellen I have noticed a positive change in how I am able to manage stressful situations. The breath work and group sessions have given me tools which I can draw upon when needed and has changed my overall view on how stress affects my life. I feel much more in control and am dedicating time out to reflect and meditate so thank you Ellen! I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to be a part of this.

Mindfulness has been a great tool for me to deal with stress in my job and to take time out from my busy life, I’ve always been curious about meditation and other techniques but never felt I had time to give them a go. Mindfulness takes things slowly and introduces steps that are easy to follow and can be incorporated easily into your day routine.
Ellen is a fantastic teacher and mentor for people who are new to mindfulness and those with more experience. She is enthusiastic, warm and generally a lovely person. My mental health and stress levels have improved a huge amount since I attended Ellen’s classes, I can’t recommend her and the classes enough.
Barney Smith, Tenancy Management Team Leader Islington Council
Ellen provided excellent career support to a number of ONS staff through interactive workshops and focused 1-2-1 sessions. I was very impressed with her flexibility, positive energy and ability to adapt her delivery to differing staff levels and needs. There was a real impact. Staff were motivated to plan their careers more and take action to implement these plans.
Paul Bailey Chartered MCIPD. Learning & Development Operations Manager at BP
Ellen tailored her approach to deal with people from a variety of grades and professions within the ONS. She proved to be enthusiastic, motivating and constructively challenging. A member of the Human Resources team who used the service themselves said that compared to other career coaches that they have met, Ellen is ‘one of the best.
Claire Druce of the Career Transition Team at the Office for National Statistics
Coaching with Ellen was like holding a mirror up for me. The answers were already with me and I just didn’t have confidence in my own judgement to determine my future. I have since gone on to gain two promotions in the middle of this recession. I feel empowered.

Ellen’s very warm and personable coaching really helped me at a critical point in my life. As well as having been made redundant, I was plagued with self-doubt and a lack of direction. Ellen’s sessions helped me realise my strengths and set some empowering goals for the future. I felt as if there was a ‘clearing’ for the first time in a long time.

Being made redundant after twenty years was a big shock to me, even if half expected. Ellen enabled me to better understand my circumstances; build my self-confidence and re-focus in order to move forward and follow a direction that I knew was best for me and my career. I have been successful in finding a new career path in these challenging times. Ellen’s support has made all the difference, particularly when feeling the heat of defeat! Thank you so much.

Just wanted to say thank you very much for the session yesterday Ellen - you were fantastic! A truly motivating and dynamic workshop. A great presentation on interview skills which has given me so much confidence: you knew your stuff, it was relevant and timely and I really got a lot out of it. Thank you.

It’s amazing that since I listened to your advice and optimized my CV, every job I apply for I am getting through to interview. The Red Cross called me today for an interview for Executive Assistant PA - another good post, good salary and good employer. Thank you so much Ellen.
